Notion, a software I have just recently been introduced to in class today that I truly had never heard before. With never having heard of it before, we were placed into groups by counting off numbers 1-3 and were given 15 minutes to create a presentation using notion on an other AI software. While there are many reviews that talk about Phot AI in depth, it was attempted to see just how much we could learn in 15 minutes. To do so, we were using Notion with a remote team, my team consisted of five people, Prabi, Matthew, Cassidy, Kendra, and myself. Our communication using the Notion platform was easy and clear, each of us took on a different role with what Phot AI had to offer. My specific task was using Phot AI”s Text to Art feature. It did take me a minute to understand how to use this feature, but eventually, I found that it had already entered a prompt for me that I was at free will to change, so I did just that.
So, What did I do?:
The original prompt inputted was “Phot AI–aesthetic dripping candy embedded”, this presented with colorful text stating “Phot AI” in a dripping candy form. I found the text box on the bottom just underneath the image and changed the prompt to “Deflection Tactics-Gold Balloon”. Now, while I find this cool, I feel as if it did not give me that many options for generating a new image of my own idea. What I mean by this is that the generator already had inputted prompts that I had to choose from, and while I appreciate a decent choice, I felt like it should give the user more free will. Even when I found the option to “edit more” it still did not give me that many options to edit it differently, meaning that the art within the text had to be chosen from the prompts given. My free will was to choose the background image behind the text, the color, the size of the image, and honestly, not that much more. Honestly, I would probably not use this feature again on Phot AI.
I think given the fact that we only had 15 minutes to do this was definitely challenging as I don’t feel like I got an entirely full time to truly explore this feature and now have a negative view on it. It also did not help that it was hard to ask my groupmates for help because we were all doing different things remotely, and the notion page was quite small so I felt that if I were to type something to ask for help, it may not have been seen. Using this product to try and do a 15 minute presentation I feel like was very difficult coming from someone who not only did not know how to use it, but also someone who is so used to doing slideshow presentations.
